When I'm punching dozens of holes to mount a solar array, I need to be certain there are no points of failure. Only Quick Mount gives me that assurance.

Waterproof!

When we founded Quick Mount PV in 2006, we were as committed to the future of the solar industry as we were to the success of our own business. We were convinced, then as now, that this clean, dependable, renewable power source can thrive only if the product we put on the roof is safe, sound and reliable.

Bad installations result in unhappy customers who may walk away from their solar experience bitterly disappointed. That's not only bad for the installer’s reputation, that's bad for solar.

We're proud to have developed the most durable, time saving, easy to use waterproof roof mounts ever made, so that every solar system can have a strong, rainproof foundation, and the industry's future can be built on solid footing.

Helping You Learn About Waterproofing

At Quick Mount PV, our mission is to give you not only the products and tools but also the education and training you need to make every installation 100% waterproof. This section of our website is dedicated to that effort. The rest of this page covers the basics of waterproofing, and the links in the left column provide additional information on important waterproofing topics.

Why All the Fuss Over Waterproofing?

A rooftop solar PV installation requires dozens of roof penetrations to bolt the system to the roof. Each one, if not done properly, is a potential disaster waiting to happen.

Leaks are the most common reason for solar installer service call backs, which is costly enough. The effect this can have on your reputation is even more serious.

Worst of all, water damage can lead to a lawsuit; in fact, water intrusion is the leading cause of construction-related litigation. And it only takes one such legal action to put a small company out of business.

Nothing is more essential to a successful rooftop solar installation than making sure the holes you drill do not develop leaks.

Sealant Alone Won't Do It

It was never a good idea, that old school practice of bolting an L-foot or a chunk of angle iron to the roof with nothing but a glob of silicone to seal out the rain. But as many of the old timers who pioneered the solar industry will tell you, it got the job done – most of the time.

What we didn’t know back then was that the sealants in use were vulnerable to the sun’s ultraviolet rays. As the silicone broke down, leaks would sometimes follow, as would the headaches of return trips and the threat of legal action.

We know better now. Squirting sealant in a hole and leaving it to the fates is not only passé, it's increasingly likely to gain disapproving nods from local building inspectors, who are growing more aware that permanently keeping the rain out requires appropriately flashed roof penetrations sealed with a manufacturer approved sealant.

Roofers Know - Now You Can Too

Sound waterproofing practices are not new. Roofers have been carrying them out for decades. The difficulty for non-roofers has always been that it takes a roofer’s skills to properly retrofit and flash a roof penetration. And even those who try are likely to find that fashioning a custom flashing for every installation is simply not cost effective. But then again, neither is the expense of service call backs and lawsuits.

We created Quick Mount PV to solve this dilemma. Quick Mounts make waterproofing a PV installation – or any job that involves putting equipment on the roof – both cost effective and easy.

When you're up on the roof you need to think like a roofer and use Quick Mount PV products for a long lasting, waterproof, code-compliant installation every time. And always remember:

Respect the Roof!
